Exhausted? How Movement, Minerals, and Missing Your Internal Rhythm Can Bring You Back to Life

First, let's lay out what exhaustion is and how to spot it within your body:

Exhaustion is a state of extreme physical, mental, or emotional fatigue that goes beyond everyday tiredness. It occurs when the body and nervous system are under prolonged stress without adequate rest, nourishment, or recovery.

What Happens in the Body:

  • The nervous system stays in “fight or flight” mode, draining energy reserves.

  • Cortisol and adrenaline levels may spike and then crash, leading to burnout.

  • Muscles may feel weak, digestion slows down, and sleep becomes less restorative.

  • Inflammation and hormonal imbalances can develop over time.

How to Spot Exhaustion:

  • Constant fatigue, even after a full night’s sleep

  • Brain fog, forgetfulness, or trouble focusing

  • Irritability or emotional overwhelm

  • Low motivation or a sense of “running on empty”

  • Physical signs: dark circles, frequent colds, muscle tension, poor digestion

Exhaustion is a signal from your body to slow down, reset, and restore balance before it turns into something more serious, like burnout or chronic illness.

Is this hitting home for you? Let dive deeper and learn a little on how to come back to whole life even if you're external world is busy - you CAN be calm, centred, and full of healthy energy,

You’re Sleeping, But Not Resting Your Nervous System

Your body may be in bed, but your nervous system might still be on high alert.

Stress, screen time, and pushing through the day in survival mode keep your system in a “fight or flight” loop, even overnight.

Real-life fix: Regulate before you rest.

Add a 2-minute nervous system downshift before bed:

  • Legs up the wall + slow breathing (inhale 4, exhale 6)

  • Light stretching or somatic shaking

  • No scrolling 30 minutes before sleep (swap it for a podcast or journaling)

Your Body Is Missing Key Minerals

Most of us are walking around depleted—thanks to stress, processed foods, coffee, and poor soil quality.

Magnesium, potassium, and sodium are crucial for:

  • Muscle recovery

  • Hormonal balance

  • Sleep quality

  • Cellular energy

If you’re waking up tired, sore, or needing caffeine to function—it might not be sleep, it might be minerals.

Real-life fix:

  • Add a pinch of sea salt + splash of lemon to your water in the morning.

  • Try magnesium glycinate before bed (always check with your practitioner).

  • Eat mineral-rich foods: cooked greens, seaweed, coconut water, pumpkin seeds, bananas.

You’re Not Moving Enough (or Moving Too Hard)

Being sedentary all day + doing one high-intensity class a few times a week = a dysregulated system and stagnant energy. Movement isn’t just about workouts—it’s about flow, circulation, and regulating your circadian rhythm.

Real-life fix:

  • Start your day with 5–10 minutes of gentle movement: a walk, Pilates, mobility work, or even dancing in your kitchen.

  • Set a timer to stand and stretch every hour (your hips and brain will thank you).

  • Ditch the “all or nothing” mindset. Small, consistent movement wins.

Your Daily Rhythm Is Off

Humans thrive on rhythm. When you eat, move, and rest in sync with your natural circadian rhythm, your body functions better. But many of us live in chaos: eating at weird times, working late, and squeezing in movement only when we “have time.”

Real-life fix: Anchor your day with 2 or 3 consistent habits:

  • Wake up at the same time.

  • Eat within 90 minutes of waking.

  • Get sunlight on your face in the morning.

  • Wind down at the same time every night (even if just with a 10-minute routine).

You’re Missing Joyful, Restorative Practices

Not all fatigue is physical. Sometimes your body is exhausted because your soul is bored, burnt out, or disconnected.

Real-life fix:

  • Schedule in 5 minutes of joy each day: music, sunlight, a hot bath, a silly video, journaling, breathwork.

  • Try a restorative movement practice like gentle Pilates, yin yoga, or walking meditations.
