A Fresh Season, A Gentle Reset

Every time the seasons shift, I notice a change in myself. The air feels different, my energy changes, and I start craving a reset. I know I’m not alone. The change of seasons rolls around, and suddenly, people feel like it’s time for a total overhaul. A brand-new workout routine, a completely different diet, waking up two hours earlier or going to bed earlier. These are all incredible changes! But….

I can tell you, with love and honesty, it rarely works. In fact, I’d say 99% of the time these extreme resets fizzle out. Not because people aren’t motivated or disciplined, but because big overhauls aren’t sustainable.

At first, it can feel incredibly exciting, and we have all this energy, riding a wave of motivation, adrenaline, dopamine, and everything feels possible. You may even feel superhuman! But your life doesn’t stop so that we can reset. Work deadlines arise, family needs your attention, your energy dips, or you have an off day. And when you can’t keep up with every single new “rule,” it’s easy to feel like you’ve failed.

The truth? You haven’t failed at all. The approach has.

Why Small Steps Work Better

Our brains and bodies thrive on small, steady shifts—not massive overnight changes. That’s why I’m such a big fan of the ideas in Atomic Habits by James Clear. He reminds us that lasting transformation comes from taking tiny, consistent actions that accumulate over time. He calls it Habit Stacking. In short, you examine your current habits and add or ‘stack’ a new habit on top of an existing one. For example, if you want to drink more water, place a glass of water next to your coffee machine so you can drink from it while your coffee is brewing. Want to take more vitamins as supplements? Place them next to your coffee machine so you can take them before drinking your morning coffee, and so on. Would you like to start going to the gym 2/week in the morning? Have your clothing set out and ready to wear the night before.

I’ve seen it again and again with my clients: the ones who choose small, attainable steps are the ones who make real, lasting progress.

I genuinely believe the recipe for real change comes from within. That intuitive ping that says “Drink more water”, “Read before bed instead of watching TV”, “Get off your phone”, “Go for a quick walk before putting the kids down”. These small and subtle voices are your body's way of trying to communicate with you. Are you ready to listen?

Jenny’s 4 Seasonal Reset Recommendation

Instead of overhauling your entire routine this season, I recommend focusing on just four simple things. Not ten. Not everything. Just four.

Here are examples I often suggest:

  1. Drink more water – Start your day with a glass of water before coffee/Tea, once you’ve mastered that. Add a glass of water before your meals.

  2. Eat cleaner – You know packaged food is not suitable for our bodies. Try to eliminate one product from your weekly shopping list and see where you can substitute it with a whole food. For example, swap your store-bought cereal for homemade oatmeal.

  3. Move more – Go for a short walk after lunch or dinner. It doesn't have to be long, even a walk around the block is better than nothing. Your body and mental health will thank you.

  4. Be your biggest cheerleader - We all have a choice. Are we going to advocate and encourage ourselves, or are we going to bully and self-critize ourselves? And if we’re really going to make long-lasting changes to better ourselves, our self-worth needs to match. So, start being proud of who you are and what you’re doing in your life. In my opinion, this will be the best change you can make, which will have a domino effect on your health and fitness habits.

These are manageable, they fit into daily life, and they create momentum.

A big thing I want to emphasize here:

You deserve to be in shape, to nourish your body, and to have amazing energy! You’re worthy of a healthy lifestyle!

Grace Over Perfection

One of my goals has been to make my meals more beautiful. I truly believe in the energy we bring to the things we create and consume. By taking just an extra minute or two to arrange my food with care, I feel like I’m not only nourishing my body with healthy foods, but also with a sense of beauty and intention.

And please remember: progress isn’t about perfection. If you “fall off track,” that doesn’t mean you’re failing—it simply means you’re learning. Every misstep is an opportunity to practice patience and discover what works better for you.

Each season isn’t an opportunity to reinvent yourself—it’s a chance to realign. To tune in to what your body and mind need most right now, and to support yourself with small, consistent actions.

So as this new season begins, take it gently. Choose your three. Keep them simple. And trust that these small steps will carry you further than any drastic reset ever could.
